Tapu Te Ranga Marae is committed to the spirit Manakitanga (hosting, sharing, respecting others) We welcome all people to come for a real and living Marae experience. We like to welcome our Manuhiri (visitors) with a Powhiri - the Maori traditional ritual of welcoming. We believe our Powhiri is a unique, full and all encompassing ritual of welcome…it is a comprehensive gesture of respect. We have Kaumatua (elders) and Maori consultants with programmes to guide groups on Taha Maori (maori understanding) if required. We host local, national and international hui (conferences). Some of them stay for a few hours, others for several days. The natural organic environment - native birdsong, native trees, rocks and art all combine to present a restful atmosphere.
We encourage Noho Marae (marae stay) from schools. We believe it is important for children to have a positive Maori experience - it ensures a more harmonious future for our country. Because Noho Marae are popular, we ask schools to contact us well in advance. The Marae consists of nine different Whare (conference or sleeping spaces) and these can be arranged to suit the needs of the group. We do full catering, or the group can have self catering. Over the last 32 years many thousandsc visited us. They have come from all walks of life. We have regular visits from corporate groups, schools, family reunions, national and international conferences. |
